#9 - šŸ  Fish pond

ā€œFish arenā€™t made to be in a box, kidā€ - Finding Nemo

Ever felt like a fish in a little pond? or even worse, like a fish in a fish ball? A feeling of suffocation, lack of breathing. A place that is too small to fit you, not only physically, but especially mentally.

Fish Pond is the expression of the need to explore and get out of your comfort zone. Since I was a kid, when looking at fish in a pond or in a box this was the first thought that came to my mind: how can they live there when they are born to swim freely in the infinite sea? I feel sorry for any animal living in cages or boxes.

Itā€™s a metaphor to many humans as well, that spend their entire lives in the same place (mentally and/or physically) too scared to discover the world out there, change opinions, enlarge their horizons. I believe this is the main reason why we still have wars, conflicts, and limiting believs even with all the advanced means and technologies of this days. Letā€™s break cages and boxes, mental limitations. Letā€™s educate ourselves in this never ending journey called growth and developement. The pure essence of life.

The painting is a critic to the society of my generation, I have seen and keep seeing too many fishes lost in stagnant waters without a clear direction, swimming around a small pond ideated by politicians or other kind of ā€œauthoritiesā€.

I am a firm believer that when you really want to accomplish something, you will find the way to accomplish it. Whenever you stop in the process, itā€™s because you realize you donā€™t really want that specific thing. Or you just give up without realizing it. Which is also ok.You canā€™t achieve everything, you need to focus only on the things that really matter to you. And everyone is different, so there is enough space to acquire different skills and abilities and follow different kind of dreams for each one of us.

In the painting, the semi-abstract red fishes are barely visible, hidden by the colors on top of them. Just like a pond of fish full of weeds and stagnant water. Just like our inner voice whenever we get too busy with everyday life.

Itā€™s a reminder to always take the time to connect with yourself, get out there and swim toward your destiny. A better enlighted world with clear water.
